Young tourism interns head for Canada, UK and US

Four for tourism: Stacee Smith, Alyson Thompson, Sasha Simpson and Nicola Hiles

The 2008 David Allen Interns have been announced by Premier and Minister of Tourism Ewart Brown.

The Department of Tourism has been sponsoring the Intern initiative for the past nine years and renamed the programme five years ago after former Tourism Minister David Allen.

Dr. Brown said: "In 2003, we renamed this internship programme after a man who was keen to ensure that we trained and nurtured the best and the brightest Bermudians so that they can one day take over as the leaders in our tourism industry."

The 2008 David Allen Interns are:

Stacee Smith — University of Ottawa, Canada, who is pursuing a major in International Development and Globalisation. She will be working in the Department's New York Public Relations Agency, Corbin Associates Limited.

Nicola Hiles — University of Gloucestershire, Cheltenham, in the UK. She is pursuing a Bachelor (Honours) Marketing Management with International Tourism emphasis. She will be working with Global Hue.

Rowena Smith — Studying International Hotel and Tourism Management Lucerne, Switzerland.

She will be working with the Department of Tourism New York office.

Alyson N. Thompson — Andrews University, majoring in International Business and Language. She will be working with the Department of Tourism New York office.

Sasha Simpson — University of Ottawa. She is pursuing Bachelors (Honours) in Sociology.

She will be working with Publics Limited.
