Flat screen TV, cash stolen
A thief stole a flat screen television and a quantity of cash from a Southampton residence.
According to Police, the culprit gained entry into the home sometime between 1 a.m. and 3 a.m. Sunday. The Shawn Acres Lane resident said a 42-inch Sony flat screen television was taken, along with the cash.
Man arrested after accident
A 22-year-old was arrested on suspicion of drink driving following a single-car collision yesterday.
No one was hurt in the accident, which took place on Somerset Road in Sandys at approximately 12.50 a.m. near the junction with Tankard Lane.
" It appears that a car was travelling east on Somerset Road when the driver, a 22-year-old St. George's woman, lost control and collided with a wall," said a Police spokesperson.
"The driver was not injured, however she was subsequently arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and detained after failing the alco-analyser test.
"Her front seat passenger, a 22-year-old Sandys parish woman, was also uninjured."
The spokesperson said the car received extensive damage to its front end and right side.
Seventeen injured in road collisions
Four people were arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and there were eight reported burglaries over the weekend. Police reported 17 road traffic collisions, 12 of which resulted in car damage only, and five in injury.
Over the weekend eight vehicles were taken without their owner's consent.
Motorcyclist arrested after collision on Friday
A 43-year-old was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving after his motorcycle collided with an auxiliary cycle.
The accident occurred at 9.35 p.m. on Friday.
According to Police, the auxiliary cycle was travelling along Court Street and the motorcycle along Dundonald Street, when they collided.
"The rider of the auxiliary cycle, a 20-year-old St. George's man, sustained a broken left ankle," said a spokesperson. "He was taken to [King Edward VII Memorial Hospital] via ambulance for treatment. The rider of the motorcycle, a 43-year-old Hamilton Parish man, sustained an abrasion to his left wrist. He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of impaired driving."
