Taxi crash at park
A taxi driver smashed through a railing, went over an embankment and ended up in Astwood Park after losing control of his vehicle on Monday.
At around 12.05 a.m., Police attended the scene of the single vehicle accident on South Road, Warwick, near the junction of Rocklands Road. It appears the driver, a 24-year-old Sandys Parish man was the only person in the vehicle at the time.
The vehicle was extensively damaged and the man was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment to a bump to his head.
Scuba gear taken in burglary
Police attended three reported burglaries on Sunday.
A quantity of scuba diving equipment was stolen from a St. David's Road, St. George's, home. Police attended the scene at about 12.15 a.m. with the complainant stating that the break-in happened sometime between the hours of 3 p.m. and 11.15 p.m. when they were not at home.
In another burglary at the opposite end of the Island, it was unclear what, if anything was stolen.
At 12.10 p.m. Police attended the Wok Express in Southampton. The complainant said that sometime between 11.30 p.m. on Saturday and 11.30 a.m. on Sunday someone gained entry into the restaurant's storage room.
At 9.20 a.m. Sunday Police received a report that a cash register containing loose change was stolen from the Village Café in Sandys Parish. The complainant said that between 5.45 p.m. on Saturday and 9.10 a.m. on Sunday an someone gained entry to the premises, taking the cash register.
Police inquiries into all three of these incidents are underway.
Eleven house break-ins
Police were busy responding to burglaries and traffic accidents over the weekend.
According to Police four people were arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and 11 homes were broken into over the weekend. Also, eight damage only traffic accidents and six accidents resulting in injuries were reported as well as four stolen vehicles.
Arrests total 29
Police were busy over the weekend making 29 arrests for 14 different crimes.
According to a Police press release 14 people were arrested on outstanding warrants, two were arrested for possession of drug equipment and two were arrested for disqualified driving.
There were also single person arrests for the following matters; possession of a controlled drug; being drunk and incapable; suspicion of burglary; assault; supplying a controlled drug; possession of controlled drug with intent to supply; threatening/offensive words; offensive words; public indecency; suspicion of theft and willful damage; suspicion of threatening behaviour.
