Tourists on bike hit tree

An American couple visiting the Island were taken to hospital on Sunday after their rented scooter collided with a tree.

The 38-year-old Massachusetts man was driving west on Paynters Road near the junction with Harrington Sound Road when he lost control of the bike and crashed into a tree. He suffered a laceration to his left leg and abrasions while his pillion passenger, a 35-year-old Massachusetts woman, was left with a fractured left leg and abrasions.

They were taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.

iPod and jewellery stolen

An iPod Touch music player and jewellery were stolen from a man's Warwick Lane, Warwick home, between 7.15 p.m. on Friday evening and 12.15 a.m. early the next morning.

The male suspect was brown-skinned, about 6ft tall and of medium build, with a bald head and unkept beard. He was wearing a long white T-shirt and dark pants.
