Biker fined for cannabis possession

A Sandys man was fined $1,000 after he was caught with more than three grams of cannabis.

Spencer Woods, 24, of Soundview Lane, pleaded guilty to possessing an illegal substance.

Crown counsel Robert Welling said Woods was riding through Sandys on a motorcycle when Police stopped him for a random search.

Officers found a blue Camel cigarette package in his pocket. Inside the package was a plastic twist containing plant material, later proven to be 3.16 grams of cannabis.

Asked by Police who the bag belonged to, he remained silent.

Yesterday in Magistrates' Court, Woods pleaded guilty but otherwise said nothing as he was fined by Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner.
