BREAKING NEWS: Police identify suspect in shooting
This is the face of the man at the centre of a huge Police manhunt tonight, after he allegedly fired on officers with a handgun in the early hours of Saturday.
Police took the highly unusual step of naming Omari Kabair Gordon, 26, as the man believed to be responsible for the incident in Middletown.
They also warned the public that he is potentially still armed and dangerous. The incident began after officers attempted to stop a man on his cycle.
He drove into the neighbourhood and quickly abandoned the cycle before he "pulled out what is believed to be a firearm and shot at the policemen" just before 3 a.m. on Saturday.
Tonight, Police media relations manager Dwayne Caines said of Gordon, who hails from Pembroke: "We are appealing for Omari to turn himself in. We will not stop until he is found."
He warned members of the public not to approach the suspect if they see him, but to call the Police immediately.
For the full story and an interview with Mr. Caines about the manhunt, see tomorrow's edition of The Royal Gazette.
