Drugs pipe leads to $500 fine

A Pembroke man caught with a cocaine pipe in his possession was fined $500 when he appeared in Magistrates' Court.

Raymond Robinson, 45, of Angle Street, was approached by Police at 10.25 a.m. on August 30 outside Arnold's Discount Warehouse in Pembroke, in relation to another matter.

Police searched Robinson and found a pipe with drug residue on it. He was arrested under the Misuse of Drugs Act and when cautioned, told Police: "I just found it."

The pipe was labelled and sealed and sent for Government analysis which found it tested positive for the control drug cocaine.

Robinson was also in court for stealing a Black and Decker cordless handsaw from Gorham's Limited, on St. John's Road, in Pembroke.

Robinson was seen in the store's tool aisle on December 6 at 5.15 p.m. and caused suspicion after he left the store with an item still in his possession.

A staff member ran after Robinson and stopped him, at which point he said 'I don't have anything'.

A bulge was noticed in Robinson's clothing, so he was taken back into the store for questioning. He tried to put the stolen saw between his legs, but the tool fell out onto the ground.

A social inquiry report and BARC report were ordered for Robinson who will have to report back to court on February 2. He was remanded in Police custody until then.
