Gunshot reported in Pembroke

A gunshot heard in the outskirts of Hamilton during the early hours of yesterday is under investigation by Police.

Around 3 a.m. Police were alerted to a report of a gunshot that was thought to have come from the area around Reid Street and Spurling Hil, in the eastern edge of the city.

In a statement last night, Police confirmed they are investigating the incident, which is the third such event in the past month.

"Details are sketchy at this time; however, it appears there were several individuals in the area at the time. No injuries were reported," said Police.

The reported shooting comes only two weeks after reports of a gun being fired in the St Monica's Road area of Pembroke.

Ten days before the St. Monica's Road incident, Prince Barrington Edness, 22, was injured in a drive-by shooting in Princess Road, Hamilton.

Police are appealing for anyone with any information regarding the reported gunshot in the early hours of Thursday to contact the Serious Crime Unit on 299-4315 or the confidential Crime Stoppers hotline on 1-800-623-8477.
