Landscaper pleaded for 'a break' after Police discovered him with cannabis in a bag
A landscaper received a $1,000 fine instead of the break he begged for after he was caught with drugs.
Delvin Haase of Crown Hill Lane, Devonshire on Friday pleaded guilty to cannabis possession.
Crown counsel Robert Welling told Magistrates' Court that Haase was a passenger in a car randomly stopped for a search on May 2.
An officer noticed the 29-year-old slide something under his buttocks as Police called the vehicle over.
The officer asked Haase to step out of the vehicle. A small plastic bag containing a small amount of plant material was left behind on the seat.
Haase told officers: "It's only a little weed. I'm begging you, give me a break."
Tests later confirmed the material to be 0.53 grams of cannabis.
In court Haase apologised for his actions.
Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner fined him $1,000 and ordered the fine to be paid immediately.
