Man fined $800 for cannabis possession

A 39-year-old man was fined $800 for a little more than five grammes of cannabis.Rudolph Smith pleaded guilty in Magistrates' Court to possession of the drug, which was found during a routine traffic check in July.According to Crown Counsel Nicole Smith, Police stopped Smith on Cooper's Island Road in St. George's around 10.20 p.m.

According to Crown Counsel Nicole Smith, Police stopped Smith on Cooper's Island Road in St. George's around 10.20 p.m.

Two men were inside the car. Officers asked them to get out of the vehicle and then released a dog in the car. The dog went straight towards Smith.

Smith was taken to Southside Police Station where 5.41 grammes of cannabis were found in a clear plastic bag hidden in his crotch.

Yesterday Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner fined him $800.
