A man admitted to sexually assaulting his 12-year-old stepdaughter in Magistrates' Court yesterday.

The man, 37, who cannot be named for legal reasons, admitted to three counts of sexual assault, which took place in the family home on August 6.

He was represented in court by lawyer Craig Attridge, who asked that a social inquiry report and psychological assessment be prepared prior to sentencing.

The man was remanded to Police custody until his sentencing date on September 16.
