Motorists trying to avoid Police checks
Motorists have been trying to avoid Police traffic checks which is causing further traffic delays.
The Roads Policing Unit conducted traffic checks in the western parishes yesterday morning, concentrating on South Road.
Later in the day, they resumed checks in the eastern parishes and the town of St. George's.
This Police presence caused some delays on South Road and additional delays on Middle Road and Harbour Road. It appeared, some motorists attempted to avoid the traffic checks by using alternate routes into the City of Hamilton.
However, no major roads into the city were blocked by Police.
Police are encouraging the motoring public to continue to take their normal route into work and to drive/ride within the speed limit to ensure that they arrive at their destination safely and on time.
In addition, they are asking motorists not to slow down to observe Police activity as this practice only leads to more congestion on our roads.
