Remembering road victims during match
A minute of silence will be held at Cup Match tomorrow in remembrance of this year's road victims.
ROLO (Remembering Our Loved Ones) hopes that cricket spectators and revellers will mark the moment out of respect for the 11 victims and their families. The minute of silence is scheduled to take place during the 4.20 p.m. break in the match.
ROLO has also teamed up with CADA (Centre for Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention) to hand out water bottles with a road safety message.
Angel Nottingham, ROLO president, explained: "We are trying to promote a safe holiday and will be giving out Barritt's water but with our own labels, telling people not to drink and drive.
"As families who have been through the tragedy of road deaths, we want to send a positive message to the public. We want to encourage people to have fun safely and if we can catch someone's attention, it will make all the difference.
"This is a good holiday to promote safe driving."
ROLO and CADA will also have banners posted on the field at Somerset Cricket Club to promote the safety message for both days of the match.
