St. George's Police Station reopens today.

After a wait of more than two years, the people of the East End will be able to call in between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.

A Bermuda Police Service spokesman said yesterday: "The Bermuda Police Service anticipates opening the St. George's Police Station on Monday, April 6.

"Initially it will be open from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Shortly after the St. George's Police Station is open to the public, a formal opening ceremony is expected to take place."

Public Safety Minister David Burch said last year that the St. George's station will open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The new centre cost $13 million and includes office space for the Eastern Community Action Team (CAT), meeting rooms for the public and an interviewing suite. Southside will continue to interview people under arrest or in custody.
