Stricken catamaran reaches Bermuda

A catamaran which lost its mast reached Bermuda safely after a giant oil tanker went to its rescue.

Remedy was stranded more than 500 nautical miles north east of the Island without enough fuel to reach dry land when it was dismasted on Saturday, July 24.

Bermuda Maritime Operations sent a 900-feet tanker, Serenea, to help the struggling 49-feet catamaran which had three people on board.

A mid-ocean fuel transfer took place on Tuesday morning, about 240 nautical miles north east of Bermuda, and Remedy was able to continue to reach the Island.
