Premier Ewart Brown yesterday announced Ann Shutte as Bermuda's new director of Global Operations.

Ms Shutte, who was appointed to the new post on February 2, will be responsible for marketing and promotional strategies in target areas.

She will work out of Bermuda's New York Tourism office.

"We are very excited to welcome Ann to our team," said Tourism director Billy Griffith. "She understands the challenges that lie ahead and is looking forward to facing these challenges head on in her new role as director of Global Operations for (the Bermuda Department of Tourism)."

Prior to her recent appointment, Ms Shutte worked for Accor Hospitality Group. The company manages and owns 4,000 hotels worldwide,where she managed 31 men and women in its North America sales team.

Said Ms Shutte: "I look forward to meeting the challenges of the market by unifying the team in New York with the on-Island team in Bermuda to ensure we're targeting the right audience.

"I also plan to focus the team on identifying new revenue streams and channels of distribution by putting together a cohesive sales and marketing plan.

"Ultimately the hope is to revive Bermuda's profile both with existing and potential customers."
