A 53-year-old tourist on vacation with her family, was found dead on Thursday afternoon.

Barbara Massover from New York was reportedly swimming with her family around 3.20 p.m. at Mangrove Bay in Sandys when she "became unresponsive". There does not appear to be any suspicious circumstances relating to her death.

A Police statement read: "She was a passenger on the 'Sun Deck 2' at the time, where she was given CPR by the crew.

"The victim was then transferred to Police vessel 'Rescue 2' where efforts to revive her continued before being rushed to KEMH via ambulance; however she was subsequently pronounced dead at 4.24 p.m. by an on call physician."

The statement continued: "The Bermuda Police Service have extended our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased."
