A truck driver was banned from the Island's roads for a year after racking up 12 demerit points in Magistrates' Court.
John D. Jervis, 43, of Cove Valley in St. George's was fined $200 and given seven demerit points for using a truck on December 16, 2007, an exempted day when heavy vehicles are not supposed to be on the Island's roads.
The summary of events was not read out in court, however Jervis maintained he was "ignorant" to the law. He said: "It was the company's vehicle. I didn't know I wasn't allowed to use it on a Sunday."
Jervis was also fined $215 and given five demerit points for speeding at 56 miles per hour on June 22.
