Knot tied: Zoila Del Villa and Muschi Jean-Baptist said 'I do' at the Fairmont Southampton yesterday as part of the Department of Tourism's Perfect Ten wedding competition.

"Thank you Bermuda," yelled the 30-strong wedding guests at Zoila Del-Villa and Muschi Jean-Baptist wedding yesterday afternoon at Fairmont Southampton.

The couple was one of ten getting married on 10/10/10 across the Island as part of the Department of Tourism's Perfect Ten competition.

The competition, done with top bridal website The Knot and JetBlue, invited US couples to explain why they had to get married in Bermuda. The winners were flown to the Island, along with eight guests, for the wedding they had chosen at ten hotels around the Island.

"It has been amazing," Zoila said minutes after saying 'I do'.

"It is perfect," her husband Muschi said.

"Our theme was Eco Chic," she said. "Our place settings are made from reused metro cards and our gift bags are made out of recycled brown bags.

"Our invitations were made on flower seed planting paper.

"Some of our guests brought the invites so they can plant them with the Bermuda Cedars we are planting on Monday.

"We're having cocktails and a reception at Waterlot and then dancing at the Cellar for some 'Pop and Sizzle' Bermuda fun."

Reverend Maureen Clemendor, of the St. Philip AME Church, officiated the wedding. It was her third Perfect Ten wedding yesterday.

"This group has definitely been the most outgoing," she said speaking of the Del-Villa and Jean-Baptist wedding.

The day started at 9 a.m. for Rev. Clemendor at Grotto Bay for the wedding of Heather Kleinman and Richard Hendricks, she then went to The Reefs for the wedding of Lindsay Morill and Michael Sands before finishing her day at the Fairmont Southampton.

"I think it is a great way to attract attention to Bermuda as a destination wedding spot. I don't normally do three weddings in one day.

"I think they have all been very well organised and the weather has been amazing. People don't normally expect this type of weather in October."

As the wedding party headed to the Waterlot Fairmont Southampton wedding organiser Wendy Rukstalis said the work was not done.

The Wedding Suite team were busy organising the next, and last, Perfect Ten wedding at 6 p.m.

"This is actually our seventh wedding of the weekend, two have been Perfect Ten weddings," she said. "It has been a really great collaboration between the hotels and Bermuda Department of Tourism, between all of us I think the guests are getting to see great Bermuda hospitality. I think it is also great exposure for all the hotels and the Island."

The weddings will be featured on The Knot website, www.theknot.com, and the Wedding Channel.
