A 50-year-old woman had her handbag stolen while walking in Hamilton on Monday morning.

The victim was walking along Richmond Road around 10.45 a.m. when a man walking in the opposite direction grabbed her bag, which contained cash and personal items.

As a result of the incident, the woman fell to the ground, suffering minor cuts to her knees and hands.

The suspect is described as a male of slim build, very athletic, approximately 18 years old. At the time of the incident he was wearing a black helmet and a black coat.
