A young man stole a woman's BlackBerry after threatening her with a bladed article on the Railway Trail.

The incident happened at 11.30 a.m. on Wednesday as the 37-year-old Warwick woman walked west along the track in Paget, near its junction with Ord Road.

Police say the suspect accosted her and demanded her phone, which she handed over, before he ran away east along the trail. The woman was not injured.

The suspect is described as brown skinned, between 5ft 9ins and 6ft, about 165 pounds, wearing a white T-shirt and basketball shorts.

In a separate incident that night, thieves stole cash after breaking into a business inside a property on Cemetery Road, Pembroke.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to either incident or anyone with any information to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011.
