Breakdowns hit garbage collection
Government said trash will be cleared by this evening after a breakdown of some vehicles caused a delay in garbage collection yesterday.
A statement said: “The Waste Management Section of the Ministry of Public Works wishes to apologise to members of the public whose garbage was not been collected as scheduled earlier this week.
“As a result of the breakdown of a few vehicles, garbage collection in the East End was not completed yesterday. However, we can confirm that all East End garbage has now been collected. It is anticipated that garbage from the West End, scheduled for collection today, will be cleared by this evening.”
A new schedule is being worked on that will see garbage collected five days a week rather than four - the current arrangement.
