Successful former Bermuda journalist dies

Barbara Dubivsky, who worked for the Bermuda News Bureau and was later an editor at The New York Times, has died.Ms Dubivsky was born in Bayonne, New Jersey, in 1924 and worked for the News Bureau as women’s features editor from 1957 to 1962.Prior to moving to Bermuda, she worked for The New York Times from 1947 to 1956.She rejoined the Times in 1963 and remained at the newspaper until 1990 working as an editor on the Sunday Times Magazine and regularly contributed articles to the travel section.She leaves four nieces and nephews, 11 great nieces and great-nephews and 15 great-great nieces and nephews.Memorial contributions may be made to the Anne and Barbara Dubivsky Scholarship fund, St Vladimir’s Seminary, 575 Scarsdale Road, Crestwood, New York 10707.
