I wanted march held on Monday Premier

Premier Paula Cox asked if workers could march on Cabinet a day earlier so she would be there to greet them.Ms Cox said she emailed the Bermuda Public Services Union (BPSU) on Friday morning to ask if the march on Cabinet could take place on Monday instead of Tuesday. She suggested it as she knew she was travelling on Government business.Ms Cox was in The Bahamas yesterday and from there, she will travel onto the UK for the Royal wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton. The Premier insists that she did not ask for the march to be postponed until after she returned from the UK. She asked for the march to take place “before she left rather than after she came back.”About 600 civil servants marched from BPSU headquarters on Angle Street to Cabinet on Front Street on Tuesday. They were calling for more help for families struggling during the recession. As Ms Cox was overseas, BPSU president Kevin Grant presented a petition to Acting Premier Michael Scott stating members “do not wish to bear the weight of further excessive Governmental spending.”
