Bermuda lose to Bahamas

Bahamas Under-17s 2 Bermuda Under-17s 0

Clayre Saunders scored a pair of second-half goals last night to give the Bahamas a 2-0 victory over Bermuda.

The defeat in Nassau, Bahamas, ended Bermuda's bid to advance to the second round of Caribbean qualifying for the Concacaf Under-17 Women's Championship.

Bahamas finished atop Group A with six points, three more than Bermuda, and became the first of four teams to advance.

Saunders scored in the 51st and 75th minutes for Bahamas, who would have advanced with a draw.

Bermuda Under-17s head coach, Aaron Denkins, said his team lost to an older and more physical team.

“I'm really pleased with the team's performance and at the end of the day we were beaten in our final game by a very good side,” he said.

“We haven't been together for that long while Bahamas have been together for two years and that showed. They were older than us, more physical and well organised."

Bermuda beat Antigua and Barbuda 5-0 in their opening qualifying game.
