Man charged with stealing from former employer

A Devonshire painter was this morning charged with robbing his former employer of more than $16,000.Rodney Grimes, 24, was charged in Magistrates’ Court with robbing Deborah Sutherland, manager of Terceira’s Gas Station, of $16,750,66 in cash and cheques on September 6.While Crown counsel Tawana Tannock said Mr Grimes did not personally rob the complainant, she said the defendant aided and abetted the culprits.Mr Grimes pleaded not guilty to the charge.Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner released Mr Grimes on $10,000 bail on the condition that he attend Hamilton Police Station three times a week.He is expected to return to Magistrates’ Court on September 29 for the matter to be mentioned.
