Cougars thrash PHC in Dudley Eve

Devonshire Cougars 6 PHC 2Lejuan Simmons and Jamie Smith both bagged braces in Devonshire Cougars' mammoth win over PHC in the opening Dudley Eve match at BAA Field.Cougars were three goals up at half time through Che Brangman and Simmons (2).PHC fought back after the interval with goals from Aquino Grant and Antwan Simmons.But Cougars soon restored their three goal advantage with substitute Jamie Smith and Kwame Steede both getting their names on the scoresheet.Smith then added Cougars' sixth goal late on to complete the rout.Cougars coach Dennis Brown said: "I thought we showed good football intelligence today although I wasn't pleased with our defending in the second half. We knew we had to get Kwame Steede a bit nearer the goal and that's why he played further forward today. He had a very good game for us."Dandy Town 1 St George's 1Clay Darrell scored a late equaliser to earn St George's a point against Dandy Town in the Dudley Eve at BAA Field.Hornets took the lead when Fabian Frankson struck a 25 yard effort past St George's goalkeeper Eunico Trott.Aljame Zuill missed a second half penalty for Hornets before Darrell earned his side a share of the spoils with a neat finish.Dandy Town coach Jomar Wilkinson said: "We created the better chances and I thought we deserved to win."I thought our fitness was a bit of a problem today but I saw some encouraging signs and I feel good about the new season."It was a shame for Aljame with the penalty because he's a goalscorer and would normally score."
