Hood defeat St David's in top-flight opener

Robin Hood 2 St David's 0

Robin Hood made a winning start to life in the top-flight with a win over St David's at BAA Field.

Both Hood's goals came in the second half through Aaron Nelson and substitute Joshua Crockwell.

Nelson struck the first goal of the Digicel Premier Division season when he got on the end of David Outerbridge's cross from the right on 65 minutes.

Outerbridge was again the orchestrator for Hood's second, with another right-wing centre that was tapped home by Crockwell on 80 minutes.

Both sides hit the crossbar in the first half, Tareek Caisey-Webb for St David's and Outerbridge for Hood.

Andrew Bascome, Hood's coach, said: "I'm very pleased with the result. We made a slow start and St David's were trying to hit us on the counter attack, but we remained organised and got more into the match as it wore on.

"It was important to beat St David's tonight and get off to a winning start because it will be a different story when we come up against sides like North Village."
