A jury was selected this morning to hear the trial of two men accused of shooting a footballer and his girlfriend outside a cinema.Sanchey Grant, 20, and Jahmel Blakeney, 30, deny attempting to murder Shaki Minors, 28, and Renee Kuchler, 26.They also deny gun possession charges.Mr Minors and Ms Kuchler were shot and injured as they left Southside Cinema in St David’s late on November 12 2009.This morning, during the jury selection process, prosecutor Cindy Clarke indicated that she may call more than 30 witnesses.Grant’s defence lawyer, Jerome Lynch QC, indicated the trial may last more than three weeks. Blakeney is represented by Charles Richardson.A panel of four men and eight women was selected to hear the evidence, which is due to start tomorrow.
