2011 will be Miss Thang’s Christmas Wish List ‘biggest to date’

Radio personality Miss Thang is appealing to people to help her make the dreams of Bermuda’s children come true this Christmas. Each year Miss Thang, aka Kristy Burgess, dons her Santa’s hat to make Christmas special for those children who would otherwise go without. And this year she’s gearing up for a bumper festive season as with about 140 families on her Christmas Wish List she says it’s her “biggest year to date”.But Miss Thang still needs your help as she is looking for either individuals or companies to ‘sponsor’ a child or family to purchase gifts for. There are currently about 80 children needing toys, clothes, shoes, food vouchers or monetary donations.Miss Thang said: “Last year I helped over 200 families with less than 100 people on my wish list. This year I have 140 people on my wish list with people on a waiting list. I really want to encourage people to sponsor a child from the wish list or donate to our charity account”.Miss Thang, who presents the afternoon show on HOTT 107.5, runs the Christmas fundraiser in conjunction with her charity; The Phenomenal Women’s Association. Earlier this year she was awarded the Queen’s Certificate and Badge of Honour for community service in the New Year Honours. To date Miss Thang has managed to raise about $4,000 with all funds to go directly to Bermuda’s families, but she hopes to raise at least $10,000.Donations can be made to The Phenomenal Women’s Association HSBC bank account, number 010-758381-001.E-mail Miss Thang at phenomenal-lady[AT]hotmail.com.
