Two Fountain sculptures sell for $17,000+ at Christies

Two sculptures by renowned Bermudian artist Desmond Fountain fetched a total of more than $17,000 at auction yesterday.
While one of the sculptures, a 22in model of a girl with a sponge entitled ‘Squirt’ was sold at the upper end of it’s expected range for £4,000 ($6,340), ‘Sit Boy Sit’, a painted bronze model of a boy with a dog, 31in high, surpassed expectations and sold for £6,750 ($10,699).
The estimated value of the second sculpture had been set at £3,000 to £5,000 ($4,755 to $7,925). The auction was held at Christie’s in London.
Mr Fountain is an internationally acclaimed sculptor and a Fellow of the Royal Society of British Sculptors, and has a gallery at Elbow Beach Hotel.
