CableVision workers vote to down tools

CableVision workers have vowed to down tools starting Friday morning, following an urgent meeting at the Bermuda Industrial Union.

A BIU representative said the decision for industrial action had been reached after "long-standing, festering" disputes with CableVision management.

"Workers have decided to cease working until we can get some sort of an agreement," the BIU spokesman said.

He said the intention was to bring in arbitration to settle a feud over a raft of concerns, including wage reviews, changes in job description and alleged circumventing of immigration policy.

Further announcements are expected by BIU head Chris Furbert.

The industrial action is not expected to affect TV service, but could result in delays should there be technical problems at the company.
