US Consul Grace Shelton will be leaving Bermuda in August, having spent three years on the Island.
Ms Shelton confirmed her departure yesterday, telling
The Royal Gazette: “When I came here, I knew it was for a three-year tour. The time has flown by, but there is still more I plan to do before I leave.”
Ms Shelton, the first woman ever to hold the post, was appointed in 2009 as Gregory Slayton’s replacement.
She previously worked in areas including Slovenia, Nepal, Malaysia and Belarus.
Before joining the US Foreign Service, she was an attorney in Savannah, Georgia, and a law clerk to the United States District Judge for the Middle District of Georgia.
Her replacement has not yet been announced.
