Permission sought for seniors’ rest home

A nurse has applied for Planning permission to turn a Southampton residence into a seniors’ rest home.An application to the Planning Department made by Elizabeth Perret states the St Anne’s Close property would require only minor changes to become a four-bedroom seniors’ home.Ms Perret lists the instillation of exit signs and meeting electrical and health requirements, as some of those changes.A section of the application described the proposed home a “five-star” saying: “The home will be staffed by qualified professional healthcare workers, two nurses and six nurses aides along with support staff consisting of a chef, housekeeper, maintenance/gardener and activities person.”According to an advertisement in the Official Gazette, the four-bedroom, two-and-a-half bathroom property would be able to house a maximum of eight seniors. The application is available for viewing at the offices of the Planning Department in the Dame Lois Browne Evans Building.
