Insurance firm gives $80,000 to educational programmes

Educational programmes got a welcome boost from Lancashire Insurance, with donations totalling $80,000.Warwick Academy received $20,000 for its Lance King Art of Learning workshops, while the Bermuda Sloop Foundation was presented with an $60,000 cheque, by Lancashire CEO Daniel Soares.The Art of Learning studies programme has been a four-year fixture at Warwick Academy. Principal Margaret McCorkell said the Lancashire donation would allow the school to offer the workshops for another year, not just to Warwick Academy students but to all Bermudian teachers.The donation to the Bermuda Sloop Foundation will support the group’s voyages offered to middle school students.“By supporting programmes like these, we are giving children every opportunity to discover something new about themselves as an individual, together with how to work with each other as a team to achieve success,” Mr Soares said.
