Philippine passport holders in Bermuda are encouraged to apply for newly introduced e-Passports, particularly if their existing passport will expire in the next six monthsThe Philippines recently introduced the electronic passports, which include new security features such as an integrated circuit containing data essential to verifying the identity of the passport holder. On May 7, the Philippine Passport officer from the Philippine Embassy in Washington DC will be on Island, and any Philippine nationals are encouraged to take the opportunity to apply for a new passport.A spokeswoman for the Embassy said: “All Filipino citizens applying for passports will no longer need to submit photographs, as their picture, together with their fingerprints and signature, will be taken on May 7 at St Theresa’s Hall, Laffan Street, Hamilton, Bermuda from 10am to 4pm.“This means that all passport applicants, regardless of age, are henceforth required to appear personally on the said date.“Please note that the Embassy of the Philippines, Washington DC, USA will no longer provide any extension of the green passport so we encourage all Filipinos to avail this one time opportunity to apply for an e-Passport personally to the Philippine Passport Officer.“For those who have submitted their e-Application for processing, please appear personally with your original passport and payment on the said date.”For more information, e-mail philpasportbda@gmail.com.
