Police appeal for accident witnesses

Police continue to appeal for witnesses to the single vehicle accident which sent a 60 year-old St George’s man to the intensive care unit at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital after his car ploughed through a fence and toppled over an embankment.The crash happened at 2.30am on Sunday near the roundabout at the junction of North Shore and Palmetto Road, Pembroke.Emergency services arrived at the scene to find an SUV had gone through a wooden fence and over an embankment, according to a police spokesman.Yesterday evening, a hospital spokeswoman said the man was in stable condition and remains at the ICU. No one else was injured in the single-vehicle accident.Witnesses are asked to contact Pc Anthony Ricketts on 295-0011.And a 27 year old man remains stable in the surgical ward following another accident on North Shore Road on Sunday.That accident, which took place around 6.10pm, involved a car and a motorcycle ridden by the 27-year-old Pembroke man.Police are also still investigating another accident that occurred around 3.55am on Sunday on Cemetery Road in Pembroke involving a 25-year-old Pembroke woman whose car collided with a fence and overturned. Witnesses are asked to contact PC Lloyd Peterkin.And an 11-month-old girl is recovering in stable condition in the Children’s Ward of King Edward VII Memorial Hospital after she was injured in a single vehicle collision around 11.30am on Thursday April 26. Witnesses or anyone with information about this incident are encouraged to contact PC Robin Evans on 295-0011.Over the weekend, police officers arrested 14 people for outstanding warrants. Officers also arrested four people on suspicion of impaired driving and conducted liquor license checks at various liquor licensed premises throughout the island.
