Police team to row a million metres

Police officers will row a million metres beginning from 3pm today as part of a charity challenge to benefit the Sandys 360 sports and aquatic centre.The event will feature ten officers and support staff from Somerset Police Station who will use rowing machines at the centre to cover the distance,which is just over 621 miles, in an estimated three-and-a-half days.Members of the public are encouraged to turn out to support the team during their challenge, which amounts to almost 622 miles of rowing.The team consists of Sergeant Derek Berry, Sergeant Kevin Christopher, Detective Constable Sylvester Augustine, Constable Cerepha Bridgeman, Constable Michael Charlton, Detective Constable Tim Harvey, Teena Tyrrell, Constable Latoyia Brunson, Station Duty Officer Vernagine Symonds and Constable Tiffani DeSilva.Pledges can be made at the Sandys 360 front desk, the Somerset Police Station and via members of the police team.
