Governor Fergusson shows support for Jason’s Barber Shop

In preparation for the cup Match Holiday Governor George Fergusson has his hair cut by Otis Rhoden at Jasons Barber Shop on North Shore Wednesday.

In a show of solidarity, Governor George Fergusson had his hair cut at Jason’s Barber Shop on North Shore, scene of the Island’s last fatal shooting.“I came first of all because I needed a haircut,” Mr Fergusson told The Royal Gazette on Wednesday.“Secondly, the terrible incident that happened here was a real shock to the community, and as a new member of the community, in a small way, I wanted to show my support.”Mr Fergusson became the Island’s Governor in May following the departure of Sir Richard Gozney. The gun murder of Joshua Robinson, 31, was “a blow to the community and a tragedy for the victim’s family and for this barbershop”, Mr Fergusson said.Proprietor Dean Fox said he was surprised by the call booking an appointment, and had called the number back to make sure it wasn’t a prank.Asked how the business had fared since the murder there, Mr Fox said: “It’s been a little rough, but all in all, our core patrons have supported us. I must admit we even had new business, which has really warmed my heart. That’s really touched me, that people are conscientious about trying to lend support. We still have that Bermuda spirit.”
