Christmas trees will be collected from homes across the Island in the coming weeks.East End residents who want their trees collected and disposed of should put them out with their residential trash on Wednesday, January 23.West End residents’ trees will be collected the following Wednesday, January 30.A spokeswoman for the Ministry of Public Works said: “As all Christmas trees are shredded prior to composting we’d like to remind the public to remove all tinsel, lights, ornaments and tree bags.“This keeps our staff safe from flying metal objects, protects valuable shredding equipment and allows us to produce higher quality finished compost.”The Marsh Folly composting facility accepts horticultural materials from households and commercial entities, with the finished compost available free to residents and businesses. For more information, see the BTC phone book blue pages, call the facility on 292-1517 or 292-745 or visit www.wastemanagement.gov.bm.
