Cyclists sought for charity ride

Bikers are being sought for a 100-mile cycle across the Island in aid of charity.Participants can ride the full distance or opt for a 15-, 25-, 50- or 75-mile ride to benefit the Centre Against Abuse.Laurie Shiell, executive director of the Centre Against Abuse said: “We are encouraging the community to support the riders as they take on this new challenge.“The Centre Against Abuse has a budget of $500,000 a year, which is needed to help end domestic abuse on the Island.“CAA runs the only safe house in Bermuda for women and children escaping violence, and every pledge of support — large or small — for the cyclists will help us give assistance to those in desperate need.”The event takes place on Sunday, January 27.The cycle ride has staggered starting times between 6.30am and 8.30am on North Shore Road near Government House, and entry fees vary according to the distance.Sponsors for the event are also being sought.
