Man caught driving while impaired allowed to keep licence

A 25-year-old Southampton man caught driving while impaired was allowed to keep his licence yesterday.

Robert Hill was banned from driving all vehicles except the van he uses for his job with a water supply company.

Magistrates’ Court heard he was stopped by officers on My Lord’s Bay Road in Hamilton Parish at about 10pm on March 29.

Duty counsel Charles Richardson said the defendant’s job required he drive a light van in order to do repairs at various locations.

Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner fined Hill $800 and disqualified him from driving all vehicles except the company’s van.
