Woman injured as boat runs aground

A woman is being treated in hospital for injuries received when the boat she was on ran aground in Hamilton Harbour.

The 23ft Wellcraft Sea Lion, ran aground on the southeastern side of Saltus Island early this morning.

Bermuda Maritime Operations Centre received a distress call at 1am that one of the eight crew on board the Sea Lion was in the water with "a possible neck injury".

Said a spokesperson: "Broadcasts for assistance were initiated and the Police Marine Branch were tasked to attend. Staff at Ports Island also responded to a request for assistance. By 1.50am the 60-year-old female casualty had been transferred to an ambulance and the rest of the crew safely evacuated ashore."
