Earthquake strikes near St Kitts

Islands in the North East Caribbean got an early awakening yesterday, when a 3am earthquake jolted the region.The 5.3-magnitude quake rattled St Kitts, Nevis and St Eustatius, but no damage or injury was reported.According to the US Geological Survey the quake was centred 24 miles West Southwest of Codrington, Barbuda, at a depth of 30 miles.The earthquake, classified as moderate, shook nearby Antigua and St Maarten, and its tremors were detected in Guadeloupe.Useful website: www.usgs.gov.
