Belco launches health, safety and environment week
Belco this week launched its first Health, Safety and Environment Week to promote a health-conscious work environment.
The theme for the week-long programme is ‘Preventing Illnesses, Injuries and Incidents’, and the launch coincided with the International Labour Organisation’s (ILO) World Day for Safety and Health; as well as Environment Day.
Demonstrations, competitions and seminars will be held throughout the week through tomorrow for staff on topics that range from ‘General Lifting and Handling’ to a ‘Green Workplace’.
Representatives for St John Ambulance Brigade will also offer blood pressure and glucose screenings for employees.
The week was launched with staff at the Belco Monument where wreaths were laid in memory of employees who have lost their lives in service to emphasise the role “everyone plays in creating a safe and healthy workplace”.
