Two injured in crash at junction

Police are investigating an early morning two vehicle accident that landed two car drivers in hospital for treatment.The accident occurred around 1.35am yesterday at the junction of Middle and Montpelier Roads, in Devonshire.A police spokesman said: “It appears that a car was being driven along Middle Road while another car was exiting Montpelier Road when the vehicles collided.“The drivers, a 33-year-old Paget man and a 21-year-old Pembroke woman, were injured and taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment.”A hospital spokeswoman said both drivers were admitted to a general ward where they are listed in stable condition.No other injuries were reported but both cars “received extensive front end damage”.Meanwhile, police officers arrested six people on suspicion of impaired driving over the weekend, as the Selective Traffic Enforcement Programme (STEP) continues.Another 30 arrests were made for outstanding warrants and officers conducted liquor licence checks at various licensed premises throughout the Island.
