When Christie Morton realised that Norwegian Breakaway would be leaving New York for Bermuda last Sunday, May 12, she realised that it was an opportunity too good to miss. For the embarkation date coincided with Mother’s Day in Bermuda, and Christie had been seeking a way to celebrate the occasion with two very special women in her life — her mother, Ileys Morton, and godmother, Cecilia Paul.Christie was able to spring her surprise last weekend when the trio flew to New York before taking the leisurely voyage back home.“It was awesome — the ship is excellent,” Christie told The Royal Gazette after getting back on dry land yesterday morning.“Basically we sailed for three days, and the ship has everything you want on it — it’s all right there, from shopping to restaurants, and the entertainments are excellent. We had a great time.”Mrs Morton, and Mrs Paul, were hugged by Premier Craig Cannonier when he arrived at Dockyard to welcome the liner to Bermuda. And their holiday is not over yet. Christie booked return tickets, and so her party will sail back to New York aboard Breakaway on Friday, before flying home.
