Traffic collision

A tourist has been treated in hospital for injuries following an accident in Sandys.

The 49-year-old Chinese national was riding pillion on a rental cycle involved in a collision with a taxi at the junction of Somerset and Cambridge Roads around 11am, yesterday.

“It appears that two male visitors on a rental cycle being ridden along Somerset Road were involved in a collision with a taxi being driven along the same road,” said a police spokesman.

The man’s injuries did not appear to be life-threatening, the spokesman said. There were no other injuries reported.

Motorists were temporarily diverted away from the scene but traffic flow in the area has since returned to normal.
