Two people are recovering in hospital after the car they were in hit a wall in Pembroke.

The 56-year-old driver of the car was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving following Saturday’s accident, which occurred on North Street near the junction with Court Street around 3.40pm.

A Police spokesman said: “It appears that a car was being driven through the area when it collided with a wall. The driver, a 56-year-old Pembroke man, as well as the front seat passenger, a 35-year-old St George’s woman, were injured and taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment.

“At last check both were recovering on a general ward. There were no other injuries reported. The driver was subsequently arrested on suspicion of impaired driving. The car received extensive front-end damage. Inquiries into this collision are ongoing.”
