Luncheon will celebrate Bermuda’s Dr Brock

The Bermuda Health Foundation will celebrate Dr Malcolm Brock at its annual Salute to Service Award Luncheon this week.Dr Brock, a Bermudian Rhodes Scholar, is currently the associate professor of surgery and oncology at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, in Baltimore. He is also an associate professor of environmental health sciences at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.A spokeswoman for the Bermuda Health Foundation (BHF) said: “Dr Brock has promised to share with Bermuda his vision on the healthcare crisis facing Bermuda and the rest of the world.“We are encouraging healthcare professionals and former patients of Johns Hopkins to attend the luncheon at which time Bermuda Health Foundation will also hand awards to this year’s scholarship recipients.”The Foundation has previously honoured Sir John Swan, Paula Cox, Bishop Vernon Lambe, Bruce Barritt, Dr Clarence James, Dr Bert McPhee and Aldred Oughton.And on Saturday, the BHF will host its annual fundraising golf tournament at the Belmont Hills Golf Course.The luncheon will take place on Friday at 12.30pm at the Harbourview Ballroom at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess with tickets costing $150.Those interested in purchasing tickets can contact LaVerne Furbert at 335-8232 or lavernef@northrock.bm.
